Since the RAK10724 1W kit is higher power draw anyway, I’d like to add WiFi to it to make it a LAN connected USB powered node.
Would this simply be a matter of removing the RAK3401 core module, and replacing it with the RAK3312 module?
If so, are there any technical concerns or compatibility issues with Meshtastic when doing this?
Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the forum @MightyHeight
The Meshtastic firmware does not support the 1W transceiver with the RAK3312.
The RAK3312 has already an internal LoRa transceiver and Meshtastic does only support this internal LoRa transceiver, not the external 1W transceiver.
So replacing the RAK3401 with a RAK3312 does not work.
Thank you for the informative reply!
Is there any way then to create a WiFi enabled 1W RAK unit using these new components?

You need a custom Meshtastic variant that supports the RAK3312 and the RAK13302.

Are there any configurations that can support both the 1W transceiver and wifi or ethernet?

No, at this time there is no solution for 1W transceiver and WiFi/Ethernet
