Cannot burn the firmware into RAK8212

Hi,
I tried to follow the steps described in this document http://docs.rakwireless.com/en/Cellular/RAK8212/Software-Development/Get_start_with_RAK8212_and_Hologram.io_using_RUI_firmware_V1.0.pdf
and I wired my J-link Edu Mini programmer to the board accordingly and used an external battery as a power source. But nrfgo Studio is not detecting the target as you can see in the attached screenshot.

I’m using the latest versions of all nrf and jlink softwares.
Could you please tell what else can I do?
Thanks.

Hi @Mohamed,

I’m writting a new document about it, but i haven’t finished it.
I can give you some guidence using pictures.

You can use this tool to burn the firmware for RAK8212:
https://downloads.rakwireless.com/en/Cellular/RAK8212/Tool/
After installing, you can open the program “J-Flash V6.41a”, and do according to the following steps:

Then you can drag the firmware file into this tool as follow:

and earse the old firmware firstly:

Now, start to burn the new firmware:

OK, that’s all, please have a try.

Hi @Fomi,
Thanks for your detailed response but I already tried with JFlash V6.46i (latest version) and I got the same error when connecting with your version too.

There may be 3 reasons:

  1. RAK8212 need to reset, please try;
  2. RAK8212 need a powe supply as follow:

  3. Please check whether you have connected JTAG with RAK8212 correctly.

Okay, I rechecked everything and it was a bad wiring issue. I can flash the firmware the original way with nrfgo studio just fine.
Thanks @Fomi

Hi
All
I have the same error
failed to connect, could not establish a connection to target

I have tried shorting my cables
I have tried applying power directly to the board externally from the 3.3v output from j-link

Please help

Is it because it is too less amps
How did you resolve
Thanks all
