  • What Computer OS version? 11

Good morning,

I don´t have “RAK4630 for Amazon Sidewalk”, but I have some RAK4631/RAK4631-R that I would like to convert in RAK4630 for Amazon Sidewalk.

I would like to work with wisblock more sensors,

Could you tell me the steps to do it? Do we have any documentation about it, like the documentation steps to convert RAK4631-R to RAK4631:

  1. Put the RAK4631 in boot mode with AT command: AT+BOOT
  2. Reinstall the bootloader using: “nrfutil.exe dfu serial -pkg rak4631_factory_bootloader.zip -p COM5”
  3. Install the softdevice for Arduino BSP: “adafruit-nrfutil --verbose dfu serial --package rak4631_factory_softdevice.zip -p COM15”

Could you help me?

Claudio

We do not have a specific guide. Using Amazon Sidewalk is a complete different way to use the nRF52840.

You can check our RAK4631 Amazon Sidewalk Starter Kit docs and the example code

Basically bootloader, softdevice and your application are flashed after compiling with the Sidewalk SDK.

Hi,

I am already working with Zephyr in a Nordic nRF52840DK (development kit) board.

The points are:

  1. It is the same MCU nRF52840 that we have in the RAK4631, and the RAK4631 is Zephyr supported boad list
  2. Inside of VSCode, it is installed the Nordic nRF Connect SDK, that I already have configured and running.
  3. As you said “Basically bootloader, softdevice and your application are flashed after compiling with the Sidewalk SDK”. The Nordic nRF Connect for VSCode, working is “west” to flash the mcuboot and image, but the error that I have today I I suspect that I have a problem in the JLink, the I bought a new one and I am waiting to receive this week
  4. One alternative it is to work with “nrfutil” utility, same that I use to flash RAK4631 with the RAK bootloader, via USB. For this, I need the RAK4630 Amazon Sidewalk boadloader file, to flash is in the similar way that "“nrfutil.exe dfu serial -pkg rak4631_factory_bootloader.zip -p COM5”, but changing the the zip file for the “RAK4630 for Amazon Sidewalk” bootloader zip file.

Could you tell me where to download the “RAK4630 for Amazon Sidewalk” bootloader zip file?

Claudio

I do not have the Amazon bootloader as file for flashing with nrfutil.

When I tested the guide, I used “west” to compile and flashed with JLink.

I am guessing the bootloader is in the SDK for Amazon Sidewalk itself.

Maybe someone else can help here, I tried Sidewalk only once for testing and (as it is not available here) gave up on it.
It needs a Amazon Echo that thinks his location is within the supported countries. I had to use a VPN which goes through USA to get it to work.

Thank you by your suporte.

Regards

Claudio

Sorry, no other answer than what I gave already.

Let me give a good news!
The problems was a bad contact in the clock pin.

I mean, with the JLink, I did a flash process with and without MCUBoot.

But now I am going the the next battle, after Zephyr installation, the RAK4631 isn´t being recognied as a Windows COM port.

Have a good day
