I am currently using the RAK4630 module in an active product development project and would like to request information regarding its product lifecycle status.
Specifically, I am looking for clarification on the following points:
Current lifecycle status (Active / NRND / EOL / Obsolete)
Planned End-of-Life (EOL) date, if any
Expected Last Time Buy (LTB) window
Duration of technical support and firmware support after EOL
Recommended drop-in or migration alternatives, if the module is planned for discontinuation
Since this module is being considered for long-term production, having visibility into its availability and support roadmap is critical for our design, sourcing, and certification planning.
I would appreciate any official guidance or documentation you can share regarding the RAK4630 lifecycle.
The RAK4630 life time depends mainly on the life time of the Nordic nRF52840 MCU.
The nRF52840 is marked as active by Nordic
There is no planned EOL date available from Nordic.
LTB depends on the supplier Nordic, we do not have this information at hand, best you ask Nordic directly
Are you referring to support for the nRF52840 or for the RAK4630
if nRF52840, we do not have this information from Nordic
if RAK4630, firmware support will stop with the EOL of the module
technical support will continue, but will be limited to help with the usage, there will be no bug-fix or other problem solving.
No drop-in suggestion at the moment. If the nRF52840 will go into NRND status by Nordic we will design an alternative module that is as compatible as possible. We can’t say today what will be used.
