I presume the sticker picks a different helium gateway every time, yet the closest one (10m away, my own gateway) is rarely used. Is this something that I can be addressed in any way? Now the map is suggesting a trip of > 10km, yet it hasn’t moved at all.
Welcome to RAK forum @mdb ,
- Is the helium gateway close to you stable? There are gateways that losses connections to the network. One way to validate this is with another device that transmit data faster than the 1HR interval of RAK2270.
- How many gateways are in the vicinity? If there are only two gateways, 1 very close and 1 very far, the algorithm of Trackpac will do calculations based on that. Maybe the farthest gateway, doesn’t capture the sticker uplink. If it didn’t capture it, it will show your gateway since it is only one. But if two gateways, it will estimate it. I am not really familiar on the Trackpac algorithm but that’s a possibility.
Thanks for the welcome @carlrowan. My gateway is stable, but it is relatively far from others. So I presume it is triangulating between several gateways, which in this case is worsening the geolocation efforts.
It is very likely specially if you only capture 2 or 3 gateways.
