How to know if two RAK7240CV2 gateways can communicate with one another?

Issue: Hello,

Please help me to ensure my 2 gateways are indeed able to communicate with one another.

I have 2 gateways, one that in Ethernet connected on a rooftop and another with me in the field without internet access 25km away. I have uninterrupted line of sight between them. They are currently both set as packet forwarders. I have physical access to the remote unit and WisDM (including SSH) access to the Ethernet tethered unit.

I have tried everything I could find online, but cannot figure out a way to be 100% sure they are communicating with one another directly. The LoRa light does turn on and flicker when I establish line of sight. Beyond that, what do you recommend to test that data/beacons/packages/whatever are sent between these 2 gateways so I can say for sure that I am able to establish a connection between these 2 units across this distance? How can I distinguish that from the 2 units communicating indirectly through the LoRa network?

Thank you for your help

@CLehnen ,

Two LoRaWAN gateways can not communicate with one another over LoRaWAN.
The nodes communicate over LoRaWAN with the gateway and the other way around, but two gateways can not communicate over LoRaWAN.

You can do it over LoRa, but you must rewrite the whole software stack.
