Information on RAC3172 P2P

I could not find a proper category, so the feedback portion is that categories might be made easier. Intended post follows…

I have a range of about 1200 feet with an STM32WL nucleo board, and would like to move to the RAC3172 module using AT command set in P2P mode. Any information on the following would be appreciated.

– Range I might anticipate in “urban” conditions – buildings.
– How to certify and if P2P offers any special challenges.
– Any suggested examples.

Welcome to the forum @JK232

Range:
If you use the same settings and the same antenna, you should be able to achieve the same range.

Certification:
You mean FCC, IC or CE certification?
The certifications done with the device are actually using P2P mode. So there are no special challenges, the RAK3172 has already passed these certifications. But you will have to do a re-certification if you use a different antenna type.

Examples:
We do not have specific examples for using P2P with AT commands. Just follow the guide [RAK3172 WisDuo LoRaWAN Module Quick Start Guide | Setup & Configuration](LoRa P2P Mode)

Thank you.

However, it has recently come to my attention that wireless modules exist that provide LoRa in the 2.4GHz band. A world-wide frequency band would be great for our product. Can you recommend which modules I should take a look at?

We have one 2.4GHz LoRa module, but it is not for sale (yet). The market is still very small.
