Hello,
I have a Meshtastic node with the following hardware:
RAK19007
RAK4631
RAK13800 (Ethernet)
RAK19018 (PoE)
I am experiencing an issue: everything works correctly at first, but after several hours of operation I stop receiving MQTT messages. In order to recover, I need to reset the node.
I believe the issue may be related to the firmware. I have tested several versions; the most recent ones are:
ethernet/firmware-rak4631_eth_gw-2.7.14
ethernet/firmware-rak4631_eth_gw-2.7.16
Do you know if this is a known issue with these firmware versions?
Can you recommend a firmware version that works reliably and stably with this hardware configuration?
Keep in mind, we are not developing or maintaining the Meshtastic firmware.
On my side, the MQTT works until I have a connection problem (network provider goes down, brown-out). It seems Meshtastic does not try to reconnect to the network nor the MQTT broker in such a case.
Here is my experience over the last 90 days, two times the Ethernet connection failed, every time I had to manually restart the node to reconnect.
I am seeing something similar on my side, but with much shorter operating periods and occurring on a daily basis. In my case, the node usually stops sending MQTT data after a few hours of continuous operation, instead of after days or weeks.
As highlighted in the image, the maximum continuous operating period I observe is around 15 hours, while in other cases it can be as short as 2 hours before the node stops publishing MQTT messages and requires a manual restart to recover.
This seems consistent with a reconnection or stability issue in the Meshtastic firmware when using Ethernet/MQTT, rather than a configuration-specific problem.
Thank you again for the clarification and for sharing your long-term observations.
