NMEA strings via UART and RAK4631, RAK19003 Ver. B, RAK12500

Hi there!

I own a RAK4631 mounted on a RAK19003 Version B combined with RAK12500. I would like to use the serial module of meshtastic to transfer NMEA data to a raspberry pi (own position and node neighbors).

From here I have learned that for “some versions” of the RAK19003 it should be possible. What versions exactly? Where to get that information from?

As written here it might still be impossible, since RAK12500 might occupy both UART1 and I2C. Is there a way to circumvent this, for instance by using a GPS module that is only via I2C? Alternatively, how to disable UART1 following this approach in conjunction with meshtastic?

Current production version is RAK19003 VE which is using different UARTs on the sensor slots and on J7. Older versions of the RAK19003 are no longer available.
This version can use an external UART device and the RAK12500.
Meshtastic does not support GNSS modules with I2C, only UART modules.
