Welcome to RAK forum @bammerma ,
We are not involved on MeshCore FW so we have no idea why your BLE is gone after your FW update. Please connect to MeshCore team.
As for the hardware you can try to upload a basic BLE app (non MeshCore) to isolate if it is HW or SW issue.

OK, I am not that familiar with Meshtastic, can you give me an easy way to flash it with the latest version to see if that works?

You can use Meshtastic Flasher to easily update the FW. It is also drag and drop approach like MeshCore.

OK, Meeshtasstic version 2.7.13 has been flashed to the device and still have the same behavior. When bluetooth is turned on I scan and cannot see it with the Meshtastic app on my Android phone. I can configure either with the web client or the android client when I connect it to usb. Next steps?

One thing I forgot is to do upload Flash Erase FW first before the actual FW. This solves erratic behaviors on the node.
