RAK WisMesh Repeater internal batteries question

Hello,

With regards to the RAK WisMesh Repeater power sources, are the internal batteries (lisoc2) connected to VDD line via a buck, buckboost or no converter ? I see they are connected in parallel so 3.6V but I would like to adapt for Lipo chemistry instead.

Kind thanks,
Serge

While the RAK WisMesh Repeater has a battery compartment, you cannot use these batteries to power the device.
Supported supplies is from an external 12V supply or from the Solar Battery Lite.

Hi,

Sorry but I am a little confused now, why does it have a battery compartment wired up to the PCB if it cannot be used ? I dont want to use a 12V supply (fundamentally we are talking about a 3.3V MCU). Maybe you could point me to a schematic of the design so I can better understand ?

Kind thanks,
Serge

As Carl told you, the WisMesh Repeater is based on the SensorHub.
The SensorHub can be used with the batteries in certain use cases where the device is able to go into deep sleep mode.
But in the WisMesh Repeater, due to the high power consumption of Meshtastic, you should not use the batteries, instead supply with 12V.

The schematics are not public. You can find some block diagrams in the RAK2560 datasheet
