RAK1921 / RAK12500 trouble shooting

Hello!

I’ve got a RAK19007 base with a RAK11310 core and have installed both the RAK12500 GNSS module (tried both Slot A and Slot D) as well as the RAK1921 OLED display (on J12). When setting up the assembly, I did the drag-and-drop firmware installation method using the latest RAK11310 available in github. Upon rebooting after flash, I do not get any display on the RAK1921 nor apparently any GPS output from the RAK12500 (meshtastic app does not report position).

What I can do, following setup, is use the meshtastic android app (or PC web-client) and communicate with the RAK11310 and configure it as a meshtastic node as well as send messages over the meshtastic network, so I believe the firmware flash kind of worked. From what I’ve read on these forums though, it sounds as if the RAK1921 should simply start working once the firmware is loaded, but that does not seem to be my case.

For troubleshooting, I did load the example code from the quick start guide (RAK1921 WisBlock OLED Display Quick Start Guide | RAKwireless Documentation Center) and verified that the OLED is operating. However, when I reflash the module with the RAK11310 firmware, the display does not turn on.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum @bojangles043

What firmware are you loading on the RAK11310? Where did you get it from.
To have an output on the display, the firmware must support it.

E.g. our RAK11300-AT-Command-Firmware does not support the RAK1921 display nor the RAk12500 location tracker module.

EDIT

Just saw the mentioning of Meshtastic in your post.

Please contact the Meshtastic developers about this problem.
We are not developing or maintaining the Meshtastic firmware.

As you could verify, the display is working properly if supported. So there is no hardware issue here.
