RAK2287 not receiving any RF packets... why?

Issue: RAK2287, US915, No RF packets received from end devices

Setup:
I have a RAK2287 (SPI, US915) connected to Raspberry PI 3B+, running RAK code for packet_forwarder.

The lora_pkt_fwd program starts up and begins talking to my chripstack-gateway-bridge, but it never receives any packets from end devices.

I have an end device RAK4631 programmed to join and send on US915 band also. I tested this end-device against a RAK2245 connected to same Raspberry Pi, previously, and it worked with no issues.
Then I simply powered off the PI, disconnected the RAK2245, connected the RAK2287, and downloaded the RAK github files for RAK2287 and compiled, edited the global_conf.json for US915 and the same gateway ID, then ran ./rak_common_for_gateway_lora/rak2287/packet_forwarder/lora_pkt_fwd
