RAK3172 - Using the RAK3172 for Meshtastic?

Hello,

I have seen the firmware
firmware-rak3172-2.6.11.60ec05e.bin
on the Meshtastic GitHub homepage.

Do you have any experience with the combination of RAK3172 and Meshtastic?

I already use the RAK3172 for LoRaWAN and LoRaP2P
via a CP2102 on an Android USB OTG phone.

BR Frank.

Meshtastic on RAK3172 was not created by us.

As far as I know (I tested once), it “kind of” works. Number of known neighboring nodes are limited. No option to add any additional modules (no sensors, no telemetry, …)
You have to do all the setup through the Meshtastic Web UI or CLI.

I had some problems to flash it. Only option I found was a chip-erase and flashing with STM32CubeProgrammer.

Just a quick update:

I flashed the FW firmware rak3172-2.6.11.60ec05e.bin using the STM32CubeProgrammer and the Boot0 PIN.

During a quick test, I was able to exchange text messages.

I will try to port to south korean module, that uses stm32wl55

Hi, I have a product with RAK3172 is them. I was hoping to use Meshtastic to create a local network between them. Is there any more information on this?

What are the limitations on the RAK3172 with Meshtastic?

Any further developments/support?

Is is something I can feasibly progress with, or are there real reasons/limits/incompatibilities that would block me?

There is an variant in the Meshtastic firmware for the RAK3172 module, but I am not sure if it is officially supported.

Regarding limitations when using Meshtastic, please get in direct contact with them. We are not developing or maintaining the Meshtastic firmware.

Other than that, we have a simple Mesh network example code based on our RUI3 API that works on the RAK3172 ==> RUI3-Mesh
