RAK4630 + Raspberry Pi 3/4: any HATs?

I’m building a central receiving device for a project with edge nodes based on RAK19007 + RAK4631 transmitting over LoRa. The receiver needs a fair amount of compute for aggregation and processing, so I’m planning to use a Raspberry Pi 4.

Right now I’m connecting the Pi to a RAK19003 + RAK4631 over USB and reading data from the serial port. As I’m starting to design the enclosure, I’d like to confirm whether this is the right approach or if there’s a better way to connect the Raspberry Pi to a RAK module. I also want to share code between the edge devices and the central unit, so having an RAK4630/4631 on both sides is a plus.

Are there RPI HAT / WisBlock base boards you’d recommend for the receiver side with a Pi, or should I look at solutions from other brands?

Thanks in advance for recommendations.

Hi @rakrak2 ,

We have couple of Pi Hat to be launched soon. You can check here.

But for now, RAK4631 connected to Rpi via USB is one option. You can also use UART connection if you do not prefer USB.

We have a RAK 3172 Pi Hat available. Mounts on the Pi 40 pin connector. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish we have other boards and hats in stock and available as well. RecessD.com
