Hi RAK team,
I’m testing a RAK5860 (WisBlock LTE/NB-IoT board with Quectel BG77) on a RAK4631. The product page indicates GNSS support and my kit was shipped with a GPS antenna, but I can’t access any GNSS AT commands at all.
Setup
- Host: RAK4631 (nRF52)
- Modem: RAK5860 / Quectel BG77
- UART: Serial1 @ 115200 (AT passthrough)
- Power/enable: PWR_EN + PWRKEY controlled (modem replies to
ATfine)
Module info
ATI

Revision: BG77LAR02A04
OK
AT+QGMR
BG77LAR02A04_01.204.01.204
OK
Issue
All GNSS-related commands return ERROR :
AT+QGPS=? -> ERROR
AT+QGPS=1 -> ERROR
AT+QGNSS=1 -> ERROR
Even some diagnostic / capability commands return ERROR :
AT+CLAC -> ERROR
AT+CEER -> ERROR
AT+QCFG="urc/port",? -> ERROR
AT+QCFG="urc/ri",? -> ERROR
I also tried setting AT+CFUN=4 to disable WWAN (since your docs note BG77 can’t run WWAN+GNSS concurrently), but after AT+CFUN=4 + OK , AT+CFUN? reports +CFUN: 1 again.
Questions
- Is the RAK5860 shipped with a BG77 variant/firmware that does NOT include GNSS AT commands by default?
- If GNSS is supported, which exact AT command set should I use on BG77LAR02A04 with RAK5860? (QGPS/QGNSS both missing here.)
- Is there an approved firmware update path for RAK5860 (QFlash via USB DM, DFOTA, etc.) and can you provide the correct firmware package/version that enables GNSS AT?
- Can you confirm the exact BG77 SKU/part number used on RAK5860 units that are advertised with GNSS?
Any guidance or a known-good firmware version would be appreciated.
Thanks!
