RAK7249 in Network Server mode / whitelisting issues

Issue: device join request rejected

Setup: RAK7240 is Network Server mode. Test with 1 app & 1 device

LoRa® Server:

Details:
despite of a “join accept” message listed in thePacket logger, my device is rejected by the gateway
warning found in the system log: “white list join filter is not enable”
seems the server is using a whitelist filter but could not find such filtering option when in Network Server mode
what the use fo filtering when devices are explicitly declared in the application settings ?
stuck since one month, will appreciate your help.
anyone using RAK7249 if Network Server mode ? Successfully ?
cheers
