Recycling of a RAK10701 ?

Hi

Now that TTNMapper is nearly dead, how to recycle the RAK10701 for something useful ?
or did someone find out a way to build easily its own TTNMapper ? (not using TTNMapper code on github as it’s just a nightmare to build but perhaps something based on Home-Assistant ?).

Thanks

Vincèn

Hi @vincen ,

The RAK10701 can still be used as a Field Testing device. You can also update it to RAK10701-Plus or WisMesh Tap V1 (if you are into Meshtastic).

But if you are looking for a TTN mapper APP feels for personal use, maybe the easiest way is to use AI platform to generate a similar functionality (that is if running TTN mapper to your own server is a nightmare).

I did an experiment, connecting my field tester to TTN and have a webhook integration then connect it to Replit.

If am not sure if you can use it or only on my Replit account but you can check here - ttn-tester-config–carlerickrowan.replit.app

Hi @carlrowan

Thanks a lot for your message and looks like I should upgrade my RAK10701 to use the Plus firmware version.
Do you know if there is a way to flash it manually ? I can’t use Wistoolbox as it’s only avalaible as snap on Linux.

Hi @vincen ,

The update requires wistoolbox. The guide is here - RAK10701-Plus Field Tester for LoRaWAN Firmware Update

Other than PC, you also have the option to use mobile app version of WisToolbox.

oki so will dismantle it to reuse parts for other project then

No it doesn’t look possible when it’s to flash with fw of a different “version” of the device.
