Setting up a RAK7391 for 2.4GHz LoRaWAN

Hi there!

I have a RAK7391 and a 2.4GHz nucleo/semtec end-device. I want to utilize Chirpstack and as many services in Docker as possible. Do you have any step-by-step samples for setting up the RAK for 2.4GHz? I might also add I want to set up my own personal network, not join TTN or the like.

In the first instance, I want everything to be hosted from the RAK. I have currently tried to implement Semtech Basics Station → Chirpstack Bridge Basic ism2400 → Chirpstack v4, but have gotten a bit lost in the certificate/config jungle. I am also looking at Chirpstack MQTT forwarder (with Semtech UDP backend) → chirpstack-mosquitto → chirpstack-v4.

  1. Am I on the correct path? Would both of my paths work? Given everything is on the gateway, is there any pros and cons between the paths?
  2. Do you have any guides/step-by-step for what to configure to get this up and running.

I am running USP_Zephyr on my end-device and have it configured for 2.4GHz, so I’m guessing this should easily flow through to Chirpstack once the gateway is up and running?

Thanks in advance!
