Still no Chirpstack V4 support

Hello.

We are still waiting for firmware upgrade to be able to deploy Chirpstack V4. There are several dead topics where RAK staff said that they were working on a firmware upgrade.

We have a more than 50 gateways deployed and we are stranded.

You sure there is no v4 support? I have the WisGate Edge Lite 2 version 2 and I am connected to v4 chirpstack. Look at the newer versions of WisGate OS, I think they are up to 2.2.8. Also, if you want to run v4 yourself, you can go to chirpstacks github, and download the chirpstack mqtt forwarder, basically bypassing the wisgate ui and just point to localhost (172.0.0.1).

Hello brolly759
Only “V2” hardware supports WisGateOS 2.X

Then do try the other way I mentioned, installing the MQTT forwarder from chirpstack, if its available in the list:

https://artifacts.chirpstack.io/downloads/chirpstack-mqtt-forwarder/vendor/rak/
https://www.chirpstack.io/docs/chirpstack-mqtt-forwarder/install/rak.html

If your WisGateOS is not new, then you can still use UDP Packet Forwarder to ChirpStack v4.

Tested working.

I will go for Basics Station, UDP load balancers in a Kubernetes environment is a bit complicated… BS uses websocket so I can set a TLS load balancer and several replicas to handle more than 100 gateways easily.

There are workarounds but RAK staff always said that they were working on this upgrade. I guess it will be better not to relax on a manufacturer implementation and use standarised protocolos like the ones from Semtech.

Thanks.

True.
Basic Station is good.
No need to wait for any custom implementation.
