A lot of high power Meshtastic questions come down to the same thing:
What power do you actually have at the site?
The WisMesh High Power Booster Starter Kit (RAK10724) comes in two distinct hardware power versions: Battery Powered and External 5V Powered. They are not interchangeable. You choose one at purchase, and there’s no jumper to switch between them later.
No regulated 5V available? Choose Battery Powered. It’s a better fit for portable and off-grid nodes, as well as most battery-backed solar builds. A rechargeable Li-Ion battery is required for this version; USB or the Baseboard’s 5V solar charger input alone cannot power the node.
Already have a clean, regulated 5V supply? Choose External 5V Powered for cabinets, MPPT/DC systems, BMS setups, or custom enclosures that already provide regulated 5V.
Once you’ve matched the power version to your setup, choose the frequency band for your region.
Both versions keep the same Meshtastic compatibility and WisBlock ecosystem. The kit also combines a complete WisBlock-based node with an LNA-enhanced receive path and integrated SAW filtering.
