10701-P no radio information

This week I received my 10701-P and now I am testing it.

Well I did the configuration for Brazilian zone as AU915 and I got the JOINED from TTN in the endnode log messages I am seeing all the gateway information for this device, but as you can see in the photo, I am receiving no radio informations, I mean: no gateway quantities, no RSSI, no Distance, but I have lat/long information from GPS.

I did the last version firmware by WisToolBox.

Were you able to make the unit working before on a different band?

As a look on the logs, it looks like you are using sub-band 1.

Maybe you can try to use sub-band 2?

I did configure my gateway to AU915 and seems to work fine with RAK10701-P.

My RAKWireless gateways are configured in the AU915 FSB 1 channels 0-7,64 to be compliance with the American Tower LoRaWAN network because my client already is working with American Tower.

Is the 10701-P multi-channel or single channel? The manual is not clear about radio specifications.

Well, I changed the channel plan for FSB 2 channel 8, but no different behavior, I mean no radio information at LCD, but again I can see them in the WisToolBox message log: RSSI, SNR, etc…

Then, I went back to the FSB 1.

It seems to be something like a bug in the process to send radio informations to the LCD.

What do you think?

I am not sure yet but we can assume those hypothesis.

Btw @crmrosa , you told me uplinks and downlinks seems ok in TTN side.

Will you be able to connect the Field Mapper in PC via USB port then get the serial logs via COM port connection?

You can also use the console of wistoolbox and should see logs like this:

In the log that you showed, It seems to me that you are configured it is working like a “verbose mode”. How could I make it in this “verbose mode” to do a better troubleshooting?

Other important thing that I didn´t find it is the AT command manual/list supported in the 107011-P. Do you have it?

Just to give more information, I already did the TagoIO integration in the TTNV3, and I am already seeing the information there, with the payload decoder working fine. I mean, the radio informations are there: Take a look

For the WisToolBox console like the one I showed in my previous message, you can access it in Advance then Open Console.

With regards to AT commands, the field tester firmware is based on RUI3 so those commands can be used. You can have quick access on those commands in Open Console as well.

Documentation of the RUI3 AT commands can be found here.

Please do note that although RAK10701 has a custom firmware that runs along with the AT commands set, in ideal case, you should not be using any RUI3 AT commands to interfere on RAK10701 operations.

With regards to TagoIO integration, as I look at it, the uplinks are ok. But the important information shown in the LCD is coming as a downlink and in fport 2.

Is the TTN integration downlink ok? Did you follow the one on the RAK10701-P guide? Maybe you can try to delete the downlink integration then re-create a new one?

First, let me show informations from TagoIO dashboards: RSSI, SNR, SF, Frequencies.

I didn´t understand what kind of information the 10701-P send by TagoIO downlink. I mean in the TagoIO dashboards I didn´t configure any option to send commands to 10701-P by downlinks.

I think that only “quick start guide” isn´t enough to understand all functions and commands that we can use in the 10701-P. I think that we should have a “user guide” and a “command reference”.

In my device console only Events logs. Take a look. How could I configure to messages come with more details as I can see in your message log ?

Thank you for sharing the details. These are helpful for us to understand what is happening.

Based on those information, you have a successful uplink but do not have downlinks.

As you see, the device has no information about RSSI, SNR, etc. These information are known to the network server. The data that is feed to the TagoIO platform is coming from the integration to TTN.

The info displayed on the field tester is coming from the network server as downlink to the device. Without those downlinks, the device won’t be able to display the values.

These information are packaged by the backend server of disk91 where computation of distance and collection of other information is done like min-max values and total number of gateways (capped to 4).

You can see that on my previous post that I received some downlinks and those are parsed by the firmware of RAK10701 then displayed to the LCD screen.

It looks like that there is an issue on the downlink integration.

Where you able to do the complete steps on this guide? The important sections related to downlinks starts on step #10. If yes, maybe we can try to generate a new API and delete the previous one?

Now I understood why I had no meaning the downlink operation: because my implementation is with TTNV3 and the explanation in the quick start guide about why backend server is required, it is in the Chirpstack implementation explanation and I only read TTNV3 explanation.

If I understood well, I have to implement a service in the TagoIO to decode RAK10701-P payload and it need to send back the information by a downlink operation, isn´t it?

For TTN, the backend integration to disk91 server is provided as I mentioned here.

However, if you will not use it and implement your own, there might be a way to do it in TagoIO just like how it was created in Chirpstack+Datacake example by @beegee .

In Brazil we have approved by ANATEL 64 channels in 8 sub-channels. As my RAK and Kerlink Gateways have 8 channels, and American Tower in Brazil work with sub-channel 1 (0-7,64), to be compliance with my clients that they are already American Tower clients, I use to work at channel 0-7,64 with TTN without problems. This is the reason that I configured my RAK10701-P to work in 8 channels (0-7,64).

Now I have to create a Java Script at TagoIO Analisys/Actions to have a service to calculate and send them by downlink to my RAK10701-P LCD.

In fact, this product is not “plug&play”. You need to run in the backend server a Javascript to get the GNSS and LoRaWAN informations , in my case it is TagoIO, but in the Rakwireless examples, they are Datacake and disk191. I didn´t have a sucess yet. Because the decoder (for uplink informations) and encoder (for downlink informations) aren´t working in the TagoIO environment.

@carlrowan , do you have any example for TagoIO decoder/encoder?
