EUICC/ESIM support

Issue: Feature availability

Setup: RAK2013 (in RAK7243C enclosure)

ATI:
Quectel
EG95
Revision: EG95EFBR06A05M4G

Details: We’re interested in using embedded SIM/UICC in our devices instead of having a card provisioned with every unit. According to the “main features” section of the RAK2013 v1.0 user manual there should be support for doing this but I’m having a hard time finding any documentation on this feature and the expected STK/USAT AT commands do not seem to be valid according to the modem firmware.

Could someone point me in the direction of any additional documentation pertaining to the embedded SIM and/or explain how this feature is supposed to be used?

Edit: After discovering that the supplied chip is not bg96 but eg95 I tried changing the SIM slot and testing if the eSIM chip is set to the second slot, but that doesn’t seem to be the case either.

AT+QDSIM=?
+QDSIM: (0,1)

OK
AT+QDSIM?
+QDSIM: 0

OK
AT+CPIN?
+CME ERROR: SIM not inserted
AT+QDSIM=1
OK
AT+CPIN?
+CME ERROR: SIM not inserted

Edit 2: I found this post on Quectel’s forums which indicate that for the EG95 we should only have to configure “bip/auth”=1 for proper functionality, but it’s still not clear to me how the subscription information is supposed to be provided?
