RAK3172-SIP (RAK3172LP-SIP)

Hi Rak support

I have two PCBs , each with a RAK3172-SIP purchased at a different date.
The marking on the IC’s are very faint and difficult to read correctly. Same Antenna , Same uP Program, Same version on PCB etc

AT+VER=?
AT+VER=RUI_4.1.0_RAK3272-SiP

AT+DR=?
AT+DR=5

AT+ADR=?
AT+ADR=1

AT+TXP=?
AT+TXP=0

AT+BAND=?
AT+BAND=4

AT+CLASS=?
AT+CLASS=A

AT+HWMODEL=?
AT+HWMODEL=rak3172-sip

Board No#1 has a peak current pulse of approx 80mA (3.6V) when joining / uplinks etc
Board No#1 LNS reports receive RSSI - 33

Board No#2 has a peak current pulse of approx 24mA (3.6V) when joining / uplinks etc
Board No#2 LNS reports receive RSSI - 67

I do not remember ever purchasing the RAK3172LP-SIP but … ?

Questions

  1. Does the AT+HWMODEL report the -LP version of the RAK3172-SIP irrespective of the firmware loaded ?
  2. Is the low power -LP marked on the case of the RAK3172 ?
  3. I believe 4.0.6 firmware has the same results ?

Thank You

Kind regards

Hi @dingoxx ,

Regarding your test, you activated ADR. Maybe it is better to disable it so that the DR and TXP will be same on both setup.

With regards to your questions,

  1. No. If you have a RAK3172-SiP module and uploaded a RAK3172LP-SiP firmware, it will return a RAK3172LP-SiP not RAK3172-SiP.
  2. LP is marked/printed on the RAK3172LP-SiP.

Btw, the readings you have are strange. If you have disabled ADR (ADR=0) then you still have same poor result on one module, it could be that we still have something missing/wrongly configured on the setup or the other module has defect. However, the signal corresponds to the consumed power so thinking that one is LP version could make sense too.
