The issue of timely transmission of large amounts of data in RAK5860

Currently, I plan to use your company’s RAK5860 in combination with RAK4631 to achieve a data transfer rate of 13KB per second. Could I ask if your company’s modules support such requirements? If they do, are there any recommended communication protocols such as TCP and UDP that we can use? We can accept a small degree of packet loss. The main requirement is to ensure the timely transmission of 12KB of data per second. We have previously tried the MQTT protocol, but the time required for each call of the MQTT protocol is too long, which makes it impossible to transmit 12-13KB of data within 1 second. We hope to receive relevant suggestions from your company’s engineers. Once again, we express our gratitude.

BG77 in RAK5860 should be able to handle TCP and UDP. LTE Cat M1 and NB2 can cover up to hundred kbps so 13kpbs should be possible. But we have less support possible on this use case. Application notes from Quectel might be helpful. And for any hardware support and clarification, we can surely provide.

Thank you for the response.The problem I’m currently facing is that I can register to the NB network, but I cannot register to the CATM1 network. Therefore, I would like to know if your company’s module can be used for registration on the CATM1 network. I noticed that you are using the BG77 module, and the BG77 manual indicates that it supports CATM1. However, after practical implementation, I have become skeptical about this. Additionally, I found that in your RAK5860 datasheet block diagram, BG77 is labeled as the NB-IOT module, which also makes me doubt. I hope to receive your clarification.

yes, BG77 can register to CATM1 network. By default it is setup to try both: NB-IoT and CATM1.
The AT command to set the mode is:

`AT+QCFG=“iotopmode”,<mode>

where mode 0 is CATM1; 1 is for NB-IoT; 2 for both.

Note: make sure your SIM card / provider supports CATM1 in the region / country you are.
