Hi, we are currently using the RAK3172 (firmware v4.0.6) on one of our devices. I have been doing some testing on the TX Power our devices are using and I have found that the TX power does not seem to change even if the RSSI is very strong. I have a device in close proximity to a gateway and it is still transmitting at maximum power with an RSSI of -20. ADR is turned on but no matter how long the leave the device running the TX power does not seem to decrease. I have started looking at the LinkADRReq downlinks from the LNS and I see that the downlinks specify a maximum TX power lower than the one that is used by my device. The DataRate is changing as per the LinkADRReq downlink from the LNS, is there a reason why the TX power is being ignored?
How do you check the TX power?
There is a known but in RUI3 that AT+TXP (or the API call) is not returning the TX power set by ADR. It returns the TX power set by AT command or API call.
It will be fixed in the next release.
Thank you for the response. I have been using the the AT+TXP command so this may be the reason for the issue. I will double check using RSSI and power consumption. When is the next release scheduled?
I don’t have a release date for the next version.
It is still in QA for testing.
